Was out around my own town of Listowel last week shooting a E-Session with Chicago based couple, Candace and Jimmy, who’s wedding I have comming up in a few months.
It was great getting to know them, first off in the Studio, and then later when we went ‘walkabout’ around the town to do some shots of them.
Really looking forward to capturing Candace’s beautiful smile again next time in her wedding gown.
So roll on the summer .

The final competition of teh year for the SWPP is November and again I was trilled to continue my very succesfull year since entering March, with another 2 winners.
This brings a total of 21 I think for the 9 months I entered, which now go forward to the Annual International awards in January which is held in London.
It would be nice to pick up a top prize, but as I have always said I only enetred the competition to get a guide line on my yearly perfomance in comparrison to other well established photographers around the World.
But I really only know that my images really shine when my clients eyes gleem with satisfaction when they see what i have created for them….they are the true prizes I want to earn.

Its amazing how time slips us by, I remember Brita as a not to distant neighbour of mine, playing on the streets of Listowel as a kid and now here she is on her wedding day marrying a realy nice guy Colm O Connor from Ballydonoghue.
We had a great time shooting the wedding and as always the humour of the day mad the shoot even more fun, with a lot of banter on both sides.
Autum /Winter wedding can be very special photographicaly because at time we get some great light when teh sun peeks out from behind the clouds. Be sure and say hi on teh comment box below as i am sure teh coule will be checking in to see the what’s said.

Spent 5 day in the magnificant Eastern European city with my mate David.
In recent years I have been lucky to get a lot more traveling in and Prague had been a city that I had been meaning to vivit for ages, well a oppotunity came up and i jumped at spending some time there. Prague is everthing and more, it has charm, history great people, and most espicaly it is a city that has many stories to tell.
You only have to walk around see why Mozart was drawn to this place. We jumped in the deep and and did the touristy thing, the Cathedral there in one of the finest in the world, and in my opinon far excedes Notre Dame. While in a city like this it would be foolish to miss out on teh culture it has to offer, in a way it reminded me a little of Krakow, I love the agged buildings that held years of sutt from times gone by, the Trams, had the old feel to them just like Cracow, and from someone coming from Ireland , the value was exceptional also.
Hopefully it wont take me so long to return, and maybe next time I will venture out to see more of teh Czech Republic.

While I was in Prague at the ‘Once’ premier I also had teh oppotunity to do a Model Shoot with two beautiful Ukranian girls Anna ( with the Hat) and Oksana ( Black Hair), our time was limited as the sun was setting on this magnificant city, so we worked quickly despite the very cold conditions.
Below is a sample of some of the shoot
Of course you can also see the Slideshow here which includes more images.

The main purpose me and my mate David of going to Prague was as guests of Glen Hansard who was very kind enough to put us on the guest list, and in exchange I agreed to do some shot for himself and Marketa.
The concert was part of the Premier of the low budget film ‘once’ which was filimed in Ireland in a fe short weeks with a purse of only one hundred thousand euro, by Hollywood standards, this would not even cover the cost of the Coffee for the crew.
Having seen Glen in action many times before, theer was never going to be a doubt that this was going to be a special Gig, and it so lived up to be what real live music is about.
It was great hanging out with you both for the 2 evenings after and I hope that Japan went well.
looking forward to seeing you soon.

This evening I had a wonderful E-Session with Cork couple Kara and Antony, they traveled up to Listowel to discuss their wedding comming up next month and also to get a the E-Session done. by the time we had finnished chatting it was getting dark, but we ventured out in the dusk of of the evening and made full use of the urban landscape of the town to capture some really nice images of the couple.
After just a few of the images I knew that I was going to enjoy their wedding. They express their love for each other very easly, without any direction, making my job very easy.
Roll on their wedding as I am sure we will capture more of the passion and romance on their big day.
The slideshow of the E-Session is here.

Had this great wedding this weekend with Susan and Rick, which was a full on coverage of 2 days shoot.
Susan was a stunning bride who I believe underestimated here own beauty. Her family were so welcoming to us before the wedding began and we had great fun trying to capture the mayhem going on in the house, with Susans Sister trying to keep the swelling down on her ankle with a bag of frozen pee’s.
The wedding itself was held in Killorglin church with the reception held in the Castle Ross Hotel in Killarney and the next night the party continued with a marquee celebration is the McCarthy home.Rick is a Oozy from “The Land Down Under” and he and his groomsmen where great all day, and fun to work with, so helpful all day.
One thing I noticed while editing the images, how serene Susan look all day, the pensive mood often broken with her beautiful smile, and the wonderful moment we had exclusively with her and Rick on the Railway Bridge in Killorgling produced some amazing images…thanks to you both for believing in my vision on the 2 days, and I know when we get to designing the album it will be a very unique piece of art indeed.

As works starts to ease a little I have at last got around to finish editing, what is a first for our studio, but also what we believe is a first for Ireland in the field of wedding photography.
Last year a famous and radial photographer in the States came up with the idea of Trash The Dress..a craze that have evolved into something bigger that he could have ever imagined. the concept was that when the wedding was over the wedding dress was put away and never to be seen again..he came up with the idea of prolonging the use of the dress and doing a second shoot after the wedding , where the dress had not to be minded as much as on the wedding day.
So different was the idea that major TV stations in the US covered the story and a trend began. Now I was never fond or us marketing the title of “Trash The Dress”…a catchy name and idea… but anytime I mentioned it to a bride she frowned at me..and I know why ! ” U kidding I paid a lot of money for my dress and u want me to wreck it”I noticed lately when you say a post wedding shoot they seem more interested. So with this in mind, I had the most amazing and willing bride who gave me full creative freedom to show what can be done to prolong the life of the wedding dress and capture what could and would not be done on the day of the wedding shoot. So with her new hubby Gerard on tow, we arrange a Sunday in July, days after they returned from their Honeymoon to let fly to the wind the old concept of wedding photography and be creative, while still capturing the beauty of both the couple and the dress.
Though we respect that this might not be everyone’s “Cup of Tea” those looking for something different in their wedding album will appreciate the imagery we created.
Having made use of the rare bit of summer sun during the day we ventured out into the country and found some great locations, and later returned in the evening to the same quarry that we started out our shoot , to immerse Laura in the bitter cold water of the mini lake there. To Laura and Gerard…thanks for having the trust in me and my ideas…to other photographers reading this , we encourage you to be different, get out there and be creative..and to my future clients..be warned were coming after YOU….but honestly, it does not have to be a lake, you don’t have to get wet, you don’t have to even get the dress dirty, all you have to is put trust in us to create the magic that is LandyArt.

A Lovely Moment between Father and Daughter before leaving for the church…Almost brought a tear to my eyes.
Well at last I get around to posting your proofs Niamh and Oliver, I am sorry about the delay, but as usual, I get too bogged down with work and run out of time…well here they are at last. This was a great wedding and a even better couple. I was booked by Niamh and her Mom early last year after they seen my work featured in one of Irelands Wedding magazines. So impressed they told me, they went out of their way to come and meet me at another wedding I had in Clare last year.
Instantly we all clicked together, and they were impressed with my work and more especially my style of shooting that the booked me straight away, and that’s where our relationship began.
You might remember from our earlier post that we did Niamh and Oliver ( Ollie) e-Session in Tarbert a week or so before their wedding. this was my first meeting with Ollie, but straight away we got on great and I knew that we were all going to have a great day at their wedding.
One of my main memories of the day was when Ollie pulled a family member aside and told them that I was the photographer and that I would grab the shot… this so often happens at weddings , where we are greatly delayed by family members jumping out of their own shot to give a camera to a spouse or friend so that they can get a shot.
Now where as I have no objections to this been done, and I am not out to have family images exclusively to myself, I find that it usually upsets the run of things ( and on this day in particular the rain was closing in quickly..we even felt a few drops) and when us photographers are running more and more out of time due to meal serving time restrictions, every second counts…so fair dues to you Ollie for scolding the snapper…I hope ye are still talking.
Niamh was such a beautiful Bride..and so photogenic..I do hope that she will consider a Post Wedding Shoot or be even wild enough to do a Trash The Dress…or the new name that might catch on Mess The Dress ( though me never do either..mess it or trash it …we still get some different images that you would never get on your wedding day). From the Beautiful welcome we got in Niamh’s home to the lovely Church, to the laugh we had in the pub, and then on to the lake and finally at the Marquee the whole day went great and I hope that you enjoyed the photographic experience as we did.
It was great working with Gavin of Dreamcatchers Promotions for the second time ever in the space of 2 months, it’s rare that I mention Videographers, but working with Gavin has become second nature because of our similar style of seeing things.
So I hope you two are having a great extended Honeymoon and I look forward to seeing you on your return.Be sure and drop a comment here anyone who so wishes to do so.

Well..we are just coming out of the back end of a mad busy time with weddings and studios with a little other bits and pieces of work thrown in, so that is why we are a little late in getting some proofs on line. But knowing what a lovely and understanding couple like Kelly and John are I know that they will understand and forgive me for the delay in getting their proofs on line for them.Well like most of our wedding this year …yet another very wet day’s wedding, but when you have a caring and understanding couple like Kelly and John, then who needs sunshine to make you wedding day glow.
They were such a easy couple to shoot, totally accepting of the day that was thrown at them and we still had great laughs together while dashing from venue to venue while trying to stay somehow dry.
You know , your wedding is what you make it, I tell all our clients, ” so what, if it rains..so what, if its wild weather, let’s embrace it and we will have fun together, and at the same time create fun images that we will look back at for years even generations to come and smile..and say we did it is style, despite the day”.
This couple are pure example of this…they embraced my philosophy and had a laugh, despite the weather…and for that Kelly and John I thank you..and I hope that I did justice to the fun you had.

I have just finished editing Olivia and Steven’s wedding proofs. This was promising to be a totally different wedding, with the plans to have a blessing on the beach in Dooks in Killorglin, but right up to about a hour before the ceremony everything was going ahead, but the dreaded weather we have been suffering here in Ireland put pay to that and the plan B had to be put into place…but hey, plan B was cool too, as the ceremony shifted to Sol Y Sombra tapas bar, which was by coincidence in a old renovated church of Ireland, which had loads of charm and character.
Steven is originally from Dooks, and his beautiful bride Olivia is a Oz’y girl from Sydney, but having fallen in love with Kerry and its rugged landscape shipped ( or rather flew) all her friends and family home for the big occasion. it’s a pity guys you could not have packed some sunshine with you, but be sure and take home some of the rain…with our pleasure.
The whole wedding was shot in a very relaxed style and we were asked to document the wedding as observers rather than stage anything.
Steven and I had a lot to talk about, as he is a Sydney Swans fan, and he was tilled to know that I am shooting Tadgh Kennelly’s brother’s wedding next month where Tadgh is the best man. ( watch this space as they say).
It was great getting to know you both , and the more and more I relax into wedding of late, I find that I develop a bond between the couples we shoot, and this was so evident with both Olivia and Steven. They are a lovely couple and I know they are going to have a wonderful life together, and I hope that when you look back at your images in years to come, you will remember your “wet wet wet” day in Killorglin, but still have that wonderful smile that you had that day. Thanks for making me part of you blessing.*brendan*

Last week I had the greatest pleasure in been part of Clara and Thomas Ferrand’s wedding in Ballybunion. They say that France produces not only great wine, great films and has a reputation as been the romantic capital of the world. well I know about the wines and the films ( see my top 10’s) but this amazing couple also prove that it is so true about it been the most romantic, and this is the country’s Ambassador’s of romance. In my 20 years of professionally photographing wedding, never have I seen a couple so in love as Clara and Thomas, or should I re - phrase that, never have I seen a couple to show their love so much.My job is not only the best job in the world, but when you meet couples like this it is also the easiest. Not only were they eye candy, but they were so willing to work with our ideas and ALMOST, and I repeat ALMOST we had to ask them to ..” hey guys..can we part you for a few shots”, the shot you see in the slide show are so real , and when you see the looking into each other’s eyes , you can tell that that they feel, the whole world is immaterial at that special moment.
I even commented to them that if every couple in France is like this , then.. I AM MOVING THERE.
Alas unfortunately Clara and Thomas will not be there, as Thomas job as a Pilot has him based in Hong Kong, and Clara is heading out there to blend their new lives together.
Clara and Thomas…thank you from the bottom of my heart , for making me part of your day, and I hope that I truly capture the passion that I viewed on the day…and may I wish you every happiness in the years ahead…and be sure that when the kids arrive.

Only Getting around to posting this now…sorry about the delay.
This is the E-Session from Kelly and John which we shot on location in Listowel. I think that the shots here prove that I have a fondness for harsh backgrounds that have age and character…just like my subjects…the character that is…Not the Age !!!!
Kelly and John are such a lovely gentle coulple , and despite Kelly telling me that John was camera shy I think he did very well…I’ll let you into a secret John, I too am camera shy..hence I like been at the back end of the lens. ( ooops..now the whole world know..ah well my secrets out)
Anywy, it was a pleasure to spend this short time with you , and I hope that we have as much fun and more on the wedding day.
